Guided by the egalitarian principles that have come to embody Marcos Government’s democratic revolution, have strengthened the government’s capacity to deliver social services that effectively reach out to the people’s health and welfare needs. The Primary Health Care (PHC) program, was awarded by the United Nations among the Third World countries. It has made medical care available to millions of Filipinos in remotest barrios of the country.
SECONDARY and TERTIARY HEALTH CARE
A Medicare program was also launched to cushion the high cost of hospitalization, particularly among the middle and low-income group. In 1985 some 27 million individuals were covered by the program, around 2 million of whom already received hospitalization and medical benefits.
